Whether you’re an experienced racer or a novice, it’s inevitable that your RC car will get wet at some point. Whether it was from driving through a puddle or caught in the rain, your car needs to be dried out as soon as possible to prevent any damage from occurring. Follow our tips on how to dry out your RC car after a race and keep it running smoothly.
Disassemble the Car
The first step is to make sure your car is completely powered off and disconnected from the battery. This will ensure that there isn’t any electrical current running through the components of your vehicle while drying it out. Then, use a towel or cloth to wipe away any excess moisture on the surface of the car – be sure not to press too hard as this may cause further damage.
Dry Off All Components
Once everything has been taken apart, place each component on an old towel or rag and pat them dry with another cloth or paper towel. Make sure no moisture is left on the parts before reassembling them. This includes inside the motor and ESC (electronic speed control), both of which should be wiped clean with a cloth using rubbing alcohol if needed.
Once all of the visible moisture has been removed, use a hairdryer (on a low setting) or rubber vacuum cleaner attachment to help dry out any areas that are hard to reach. Make sure you don’t leave the hairdryer in one spot for too long – this could potentially cause overheating and damage internal components of your RC car. If you have access to compressed air, you can also use this method – however, make sure that you keep the nozzle at least six inches away from your vehicle when using this tool, as it can potentially blow dust into hard-to-reach places and cause further damage.
if there are still areas that seem damp or wet, try putting some silica gel packs inside of your RC car overnight. These packets are designed to absorb moisture without causing any harm – just make sure they are properly sealed before placing them inside of your vehicle! This method might take some time but it will help ensure that all of the moisture is out and won’t cause any corrosion in the future.
Reassemble and Test
Now that all parts are dry, it’s time to put them back together again! Carefully reassemble your RC car making sure all nuts and bolts are tight when finished. Finally, test out your vehicle to make sure everything works correctly. Start by turning it on while having it off the ground—this helps prevent any sudden movements that could damage its delicate electronics if they aren’t working correctly yet. After testing it out in this way, feel free to hit the trails again!
